9G-Tronic will debut in the 2015 CLS in the United States. Slated to debut in the fall in the W219 CLS, the 9G-Tronic will eventually spread to almost all Mercedes Benz models. The transmission is capable of being used in RWD or AWD applications, enabling the transmission to be quite versatile for MB. Currently the CLS uses a 7 speed automatic transmission, so it will be interesting to see how the new 9G-Tronic effects performance.
Recently caught testing on public roads, the new 2015 C Class has a much greater road presence than the 2014 Model. Designed with similar styling clues that are found on the new W222 S-Class, the new vehicle has moved upmarket in terms of styling.
Premiering in the Diesel E350 BluTech, the new 9 speed transmission replaces the previous 7 speed transmission. Named 9G-Tronic, the unit has been designed and built in-house by Mercedes-Benz. The new transmission aids in getting the E350 Blutech 44.4 MPG, up from 42.8 MPG with the previous 7 speed transmission. The new transmission doesn’t make the acceleration to 60 MPG any quicker, but it does aid in making significant increase in the City Cycle for fuel consumption.

Stuttgart – When every second counts: with a small yet effective innovation, Mercedes-Benz wants to make the rescue of accident victims safer and swifter. In future a QR code, which can be read by smartphones and tablets, placed on Mercedes-Benz cars, will provide a rescue map for every vehicle type, which can be shown on the device’s display. This chart contains all the information necessary to rescue any injured occupants speedily.
This Mercedes-Benz innovation makes use of the rescue sheets developed by the ADAC, the German Automobile Association, and which are already provided by all automakers for every one of their vehicle models. This Mercedes-Benz innovation, on the other hand, offers – in almost all cases – a swift and reliable way to a vehicle-specific correct security identity card – and can do this without requiring any action on the part of the driver. As from this year all new vehicles from Mercedes-Benz will be provided with two stickers with a so-called QR code. This square symbol with black and white sectors is often used by magazines, for instance, to direct readers via internet to a specific web page. Thanks to an app, QR codes can be read by every smartphone and every Tablet equipped with a camera.
The Mercedes-Benz QR codes identify the vehicle reliably, make fundamental information about the vehicle visible immediately and automatically direct to the website with the specific rescue sheet – generally a matter of only a few seconds. In order to make it easy to find the label with the potentially lifesaving QR code, Mercedes-Benz places one on the fuel tank flap and the other on the B-pillar on the opposite vehicle side. For it seldom occurs that both these parts are badly damaged at the same time in an accident, and they are furthermore easily accessible from the outside.

Williams F1 has signed a long term deal with Mercedes to use their engines starting in the 2014 season. Having run Renault engines for the past two years, the team has decided to switch to Mercedes. The team will use the 1.6 Litre turbocharged V6 motor and KERS, along with an in house gearbox.

The Williams F1 Team and Mercedes-Benz announce long-term engine partnership
Brixworth, May 30, 2013 — The Williams F1 Team (Ticker: WGF1) and Mercedes-Benz are pleased to announce the signature of a long-term engine partnership from the 2014 Formula One World Championship season onwards.
Under the terms of the agreement, Williams will be supplied with a Mercedes-Benz Power Unit (Internal Combustion Engine plus Energy Recovery System) by Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP) based in Brixworth, UK. Williams will continue to manufacture its own transmission.
The 2014 regulations will set the sport’s engineers the challenge of completing a 300 km race distance on a fuel load of just 100 kg. To do so, teams will switch from naturally aspirated 2.4 litre V8 engines to 1.6 litre V6 turbocharged hybrid Power Units. To achieve power outputs comparable to current levels from the new Power Unit will require a 30% increase in energy efficiency.
This step forward will be largely achieved through an Energy Recovery System (ERS) that will be able to deploy ten times more energy than the current KERS. The new ERS will recover energy from both the exhaust turbine and the rear axle, as well as deploying energy back to both.
These new technical developments will offer significantly greater opportunities for technology transfer from Formula One to real-world applications in areas such as battery technology, turbocharging, energy recovery and combustion efficiency.
Speaking about the new engine partnership, Williams F1 Team Founder and Team Principal Sir Frank Williams said; “I’m delighted to announce our new association with Mercedes-Benz for the 2014 Formula One season and beyond. The hottest C-Class model, the C63 AMG Edition 507 provides 507 horsepower, a unique matte paintjob, a locking differential, and carbon fiber trim on the inside. Available as a sedan for $70,000 or a coupe for $72,500, a $10,000 increase over the standard C63 AMG.
The Edition 507 has forged pistons borrowed from the SLS AMG, as well as a lightened cranckshaft and connecting rods. New engine management and a titanium colored variable intake manifold round out the engine improvements.

The highly anticipated CLA250 will soon be on US roads. In anticipation for this, MB USA has made active their CLA Class car configuartor online. This configurator shows that the base CLA250 MSRP is $29,900 with a $925 transportation charge for a grand total of $30,825. The CLA250 will have three no-cost colors to choose from: Cirrus White, Night Black, or Jupiter Red. There is also a Designo Magno Silver Polar Matte paint available for $2,500.
The sports package adds 18 inch wheels, diamond block grille, sports bumpers, and perforated front brakes with colored calipers for $2,000. Bi-Xenon headlights with LED taillights are an additional $850.There is also a panorama roof available for a charge of $1480.
